According to the news, the suspension of visas can be extended to a new fiscal year starting October 1. No one from outside the US will be able to work with H-1B visas during the suspension. However, the visa holders already residing will not be affected. White House spokeswoman Hogan Gidley said – no final decision has been taken yet. The administration is considering several proposals.

Will affect India ?
Except H-2B visas, the suspension of all other visas will affect Indians. H-2B visas are especially useful for migrant laborers in Mexico. Every year 1 million employees in the US come from other countries. US lawmakers said the unemployment rate is so high that there is no reason to grant visas to these employees.

What is an H-1B visa?
The H-1B visa is a non-migrant visa. It is issued to an employee to work for six years in the US. Companies working in the US are given this visa to keep skilled employees who are lacking in the US. There are also some conditions for this visa. For example, a person who has received graduation should have special qualification in any one field. Also, the salary of the employee who gets it must be at least 60 thousand dollars i.e. about 40 lakh rupees annually.

There is also a specialty of this visa that it also makes it easier for people from other countries to settle in the US, H-1B visa holders can apply for permanent citizenship after five years. The demand for this visa is so high that it is issued every year through lottery. H-1B visas are the most used by more than 50 Indian IT companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra, as well as big US companies like Microsoft and Google.
